All your family fun June 7-14

By Macaroni KID June 5, 2023

From diving into World Ocean Day to celebrating Pride Month, here are five must-attend free activities happening June 7-14. Explore, learn, and create with your kids during these engaging experiences!

1. Dive into World Ocean Day

Join California State Parks Dive Team as they swim–and chat– with you live from under Point Lobos State Marine Reserve. From their underwater location, they’ll share why it’s important to protect the ocean and what it’s like to hang out with all the creatures that call the kelp forest home. Tune in to *sea* what it’s all about!

2. Soar With This Flight Of Fancy Story Time

Join the Air & Space Museum for a reading of Oh No, Astro! by Matt Roeser and follow along with a grumpy asteroid as he collides with a satellite and gets thrown out of orbit. Learn about asteroids and meteorites and learn how to detect meteorites in your rock collection!

3. Create a Sizzling Father’s Day Grill Card

Stop by JC Penney for a free kid craft kit to make a card for dad just in time for Father's Day!

4. Listen to a Nightfall Story Time

Shhh! It's time for little ones to get ready for bed and Ms. Katie from the McKinley Park Branch is here this evening to help with a storytime that includes books, songs, and rhymes.

5. Celebrate Pride Month with a Story & Craft

Happy Pride Month! The New York Historical Society Museum & Library is celebrating the LGBTQ+ community and the importance of being ourselves all month long. This week listen to a reading of Sewing the Rainbow, written by Gayle E. Pitman and illustrated by Holly Clifton-Brown. After the story, make your own collaged rainbow flag at home!🌈
